About NIUK:
Nigerians in the UK.

The Nigerians in the United Kingdom (NIUK) is a community created for Nigerians who live in the United Kingdom.

In March 2022 Benjamin Kuti created a Twitter Community for Nigerians and reached out to the founding members (Dr Simisola Alabi, Violet Ibeh, and Sikiru Owolewa) and requested that they join him to lead the community on Twitter and subsequently on other activities and it grew to over 22,000 members and over 78,000 followers on Twitter.

NIUK is a registered company under the UK Companies House with trading name Nigerians In The UK Ltd since November 2022.

It was created with the primary intent of ensuring that no Nigerian relocates or visits the UK, without getting all the help that they can get in order to make their integration into the UK space, easier.

We intend to make this community safe and reliable for all Nigerians who identify with our community.

We encourage partnership, networking, growth and communal interactions. We host our community members to social and corporate events.

We also intend to encourage our members to partner and co-own businesses and properties and encourage Nigerian-owned businesses to thrive in the UK.

The NIUK Vision

The NIUK Vision

The NIUK Vision

NIUK – Nigerians in the United Kingdom. A vision not just for an organisation, but for a movement. A movement rooted in unity, purpose, and the enduring strength of the Nigerian spirit. NIUK was born out of necessity. A response to the cry for representation, connection, and community among Nigerians based in the UK. For too long, we have witnessed our people scattered across cities, each of us trying to navigate the complexities of diaspora life, immigration, identity, culture, belonging and often alone but we are not meant to walk alone. We are stronger together. Our vision is simple, yet bold: to build a united, empowered, and visible Nigerian community in the UK that thrives socially, economically, politically, and culturally. A community that supports its own. A community that lifts as it climbs. A community that leads with integrity, compassion, and excellence. We envision an NIUK that provides practical support from helping newcomers settle, to assisting students, workers, and families navigate the system. We envision a hub where every Nigerian, young or old, professional or student, has access to opportunity, access to networks, mentorship, legal advice, healthcare support, housing information, and most importantly, a sense of belonging. But we don’t stop there. NIUK must be the voice of our people. We will advocate for fair treatment. We will challenge injustices. We will represent Nigerian interests at every table from local councils to parliament, from media to business forums. Our diaspora is powerful. We are doctors, creatives, entrepreneurs, engineers, lawyers, educators contributing daily to the success of the UK.

It's time our contributions are recognised, our concerns are heard, and our potential is fully unleashed. We also carry the sacred responsibility of preserving and celebrating our culture our language, our food, our music, our traditions. In a world that often asks us to assimilate, we say: We can integrate without erasing who we are. Our culture is not a burden; it is our brilliance. Through events, workshops, and storytelling, NIUK will be a living archive of Nigerian heritage. Let me also say this: our vision is intergenerational. We’re not only here for those of us already navigating diaspora life, we’re here for our children and their children. The next generation of British-Nigerians must not grow up disconnected from their roots. NIUK will mentor them, celebrate them, and ensure they walk with both confidence and clarity about who they are.

This is not a vision of comfort, but of calling. Building unity is never easy but we will remain focused because the future we’re building is a future of Nigerian excellence, influence, and impact that is worth fighting for. So I invite you to not just witness this vision, but to become a part of it. Bring your ideas. Bring your skills. Bring your energy. NIUK is not just a committee or a name, it is you, it is me, it is us. Together, we will build bridges. We will open doors. We will rise. This is the vision. This is the mission. This is NIUK. Founder, Benjamin Kuti.
